| DigiTech JamMan By Tony Williams Hello to the Open Mic network of friends; do I have a treat to share with you! ![]() Recently I was given the opportunity to experiment with the DigiTech JamMan Looper/Phrase Sampler. The first thing that I noticed about this box was that it is built like a tank. There doesn't seem to be any concerns about durability from stage or travel abuse. After a brief scan of the owner's manual for some basic instructions, I impatiently connected the JamMan through my amp and favorite red Strat. The select knob offers 99 potential loops ready to be recorded and waiting to be filled. After choosing my loop track and pressing the left pedal, I laid down a rhythm line that I have previously been working on. Then with another cue to the pedal, I stopped and played back the phrase. Once more, touching the pedal, the rhythm tune was playing again in the overdub mode. This time I was able to play along to hear this lead riff that has been haunting me to come out. Wham, a new song was born. I saved it before the idea was lost. Another feature is the ability to easily store or erase the overdub without losing the original loop. Overdubbing can continue if desired with the ability of adding vocals to the mix via the microphone XLR connection. The ease of operation even for the techno challenged, as I, is comforting. I have only peeled back the first layer of the creativity of what this tool offers. Solo players can have some fun with the versatility of laying down layers of your own riffs and building on it while performing. The box also includes a USB port to transfer your ideas to your computer to store and share. I have truly enjoyed my experience reviewing the JamMan and appreciate the opportunity. I would definitely recommend this one to my friends to experience it for themselves! Specifications
